How can I tell if my Atlanta Chiropractor is being Honest?

Chiropractic medicine can have its benefits, but just like any other profession, there are some chiropractors who are dishonest, or “bad.”  As a patient, you may not be sure how to tell whether you’re seeing an honest chiropractor who sincerely wants to help you.

Below are certain things that you should watch out for when visiting a chiropractor.

They Won’t Tell You How Much is Being Charged

The simple fact is most chiropractors have relationships with lawyers and they send cases back and forth. If you ask how much you are being charged and they say “don’t worry about it, the insurance company is paying” then you should worry. That means they are inflating the bill and it all has to be paid out of YOUR SETTLEMENT. Ask to pay cash as you go.

Treatment Times

The average time for a chiropractic visit to last is between 20 and 30 minutes - sometimes longer if your case is complex.

If your treatment time at your chiropractor takes less than 15 minutes, your chiropractor may not be taking the proper time and care that you require.

Subluxations and/or Maintenance Therapy

A subluxation is a term used to describe a spinal bone that is partially dislocated or out of alignment in relation to the spinal bone below or above it. In cases where this condition is present, a chiropractor may be able to assist you in relieving your pain.

However, if you’re not experiencing any pain, there isn’t any scientific reason why you should be subjected to subluxations or maintenance therapy.

Most chiropractors will give you a diagnosis that outlines your individual problems and present a treatment plan. In addition, a good chiropractor will show you the x-rays they’ve taken and discuss the results.

If your chiropractor doesn’t provide you with a diagnosis, and/or refuses to show you and discuss your x-ray results, this could be a warning sign that your chiropractor is dishonest.

Soft Tissue Work

Many good chiropractors will not only manipulate and mobilize your joints, but they will also do soft tissue worth, regardless of whether they are doing a manipulation or not.  In some cases, a chiropractor will have a massage therapist do the soft tissue work for them.

A chiropractor who doesn’t perform soft tissue work, or refer you to a massage therapist for this type of therapy, may be trying to streamline your treatment in order to make more money, or practicing some outdated chiropractic philosophy.

Home Treatment

A good and honest chiropractor generally will give you exercises you can do at home to help improve your condition. Current evidence has shown that chiropractic treatment in conjunction with home exercises or rehab can help you obtain the best results.

If your chiropractor isn’t providing you with exercises or a rehabilitation plan you can do at home, you may want to ask them why they haven’t prescribed this line of treatment. Pay careful attention to their answer, because by not providing you with a home treatment plan, they may be just wanting to prolong your in-office treatment.

The Atlanta, Georgia law office of Christopher Simon encourages you to be informed about your chiropractor and your line of treatment. Chiropractic medicine has its benefits, but sometimes things go wrong, and you could be injured.

If you or a loved one has been injured by a bad or dishonest chiropractor, there may be legal options available to you that allow you to obtain monetary compensation for your injuries.

Client Reviews
My wife and I were hit by a tractor trailer in 2014. After extensive research online, we were deeply impressed with the various reviews we read on Google and Avvo and chose Chris to represent us. We could not have a made a better decision. Chris and his firm treated us like we were their only clients, soothed our worries, and instantly gained our trust. Chris settled both of our cases for more than we expected. James
A co-worker of my wife recommended Chris to us. At the very beginning Chris showed that he cared and his knowledge is priceless. Going through this process can be aggravating but Chris did a great job guiding me through this and was always available to answer my questions. Chris fought to get what I deserved even though at times I wanted to give up. Tracy
I want to express my deepest sense of gratitude and appreciation to Attorney Chris Simon & Attorney Chris Carsten, for all the hard work that they put forth into my case (car accident filed after being hit by drunk driver). Their attention to detail and professionalism far surpasses their firm's reputation. Because of their diligence and dedication to their craft, they were able to bring my case to a successful close, one that I could live with. You will not find a better team for your case. Should I have a need for their services again in the future, or know of anyone looking for a top notch Auto Accident Law Firm, I would not hesitate to recommend them!!!! Elle
Wow...Chris is a very good attorney. Me and my son was in a very bad car accident an I was clueless on how to handle the situation. It's very hard to find an attorney who allows you to contact them personally instead of you contacting their asst. I was told that I didn't have a case because the hosiptal put a lien on my acct. Chris prove different and I was able to file my case with the insurance company. The process was very quickly and Im glad I selected the right attorney..Thanks Chris A Car Accident client
